4th of July!

There are several songs that I love listening to on this holiday! I love how Patriotic the atmosphere is at Baseball games, picnics and other gatherings! I love the fireworks too! When i was a kid, we went to my Aunt and Uncles house for a GREAT fireworks display they put on! What a great memory!
Here are lyrics to some of the songs I love on this day of celebration of our Independence!

Heal Our Land

Forgive oh Lord - and heal our land
And give us eyes to seek your face - and hearts to understand
That you alone - make all things new
And the blessing of the land we love - are really gifts from you

Refrain:If my people - Will humbly pray
And seek my face and turn away -
From all their wicked ways
Then I will hear them -
And move my hand
And freely then will I forgive - and I will heal their land.

Unite our hearts - in one accord
And make us hungry for your peace - and burdened for the poor
And grant us hope - that we might see
The future for the land we love - our life, our liberty

Refrain:If my people - Will humbly pray
And seek my face and turn away -
From all their wicked ways
Then I will hear them -
And move my hand
And freely then will I forgive -
And I will heal their land
And I will heal their land
Heal their land

This one makes me cry with pride EVERYTIME I hear it!
Artist: Lee Greenwood
Title: Proud To Be An American

If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars,to be livin here today.
‘ Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota,to the hills of Tennessee.
Across the plains of Texas,From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A.
Well there's pride in every American heart, and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American, where at least I know I’m free.
And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up,next to you and defend her still today.
‘ Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,God bless the USA.
And Our National Anthem --I don't think I could ever tire of this song and its words! Most times we hear the first verse of this song-sometimes it is just part of a program-we don't pay real attention to its meaning. But have you READ the words to all the verses-or read the history to the song? How humbling!

The Stars-Spangled Banner
Words By Francis Scott Key

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country should leave us no more!
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
