Where do Boys come from?

If men are from Mars, where do boys come from? The difference between boys and girls is extremely remarkable! I have never had a brother, so I am so clueless as to what to expect from my sons. They intrigue me, drive me crazy and make me laugh all at the same time. Clayton has always been a handful of energy! I actually thought something was wrong with him and thought I was going to have to have him tested for Asbergers Syndrome when he was small...he displayed symptoms, but not enough of them. Later we found out it was just an intolerance to certain preservatives in foods; once they were out of his diet, he was just a "normal" boy. And let me tell you "normal boys" are not so "Normal" to girls!

I have been reading up on prepubescence for boys, and frankly, I am scared to death! Do you know that it starts around age 9, AGE 9! What?! The worst part is, I think Clayton displays some of the symptoms already...and to try to explain things to him is hard. Right now, I think he feels like a stranger to himself in some ways. He is trying to make sense of something he doesn't understand, and so am I. I thought boys would be easy. I never even wanted to have girls, but at least I understand them.

He is SO energetic! Why are boys like that? I try to direct the energy where it would be good, but sometimes, UGH... Then there is all the noises they make. Make noise just to hear themselves make noise! What makes boys do that? Why do they like to use "potty words" constantly? Why is the same thing still funny after the 1000x in a row? Why do they like to make girls squeal and cry? WHY, WHY, WHY!????

As Clayton gets older I realize this is how they are wired. God wired them this way and its our (his parents') job to point the arrow in a right place. Thank God for His word for direction. I know the Bible doesn't talk about boys being loud or boisterous, but it does talk about my job as a parent. Where would I be without God's little instruction book? wait....a better question....where would Clayton be if I didn't have God's little instruction book?

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure and whether it be right. Proverbs 20:11
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Psalms 127: 4
The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice. Proverbs 23: 24-25

Raising boys scares me too. I had a brother, but we are so far apart in age, I didn't pay attention to his development much. lol. I know I only have one (for now) but I already worry about what I'm going to do when Aron gets older. I just finished reading Dr. Dobson's "Bringing Up Boys," and while it may be helpful, I think it scared me more! lol
